About the role
Director, Broadcast Engineering The Director of Broadcast Engineering leads the reliability, development, and daily upkeep of technical systems and engineering support for the control room and connected production infrastructure at Barclays Center. Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities Presentation, this position manages the engineering team, establishes technical standards, and aligns staffing, maintenance, and capital planning with event needs. The Director provides hands-on leadership during complex technical issues and partners with Production, IPTV, IT, and external broadcast teams. Essential duties include managing and coaching engineering teams, establishing team priorities, coordinating events and partnership needs, maintaining NBA and WNBA requirements, overseeing broadcast system performance, establishing reliability and recovery plans, leading critical technical responses, managing projects, vendors, and resources, maintaining engineering standards, and coordinating broadcast network changes with IT.The ideal candidate brings deep broadcast engineering expertise, strong technical leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced live event environment. Minimum 10 years of broadcast engineering or comparable live production infrastructure experience is required, along with demonstrated ability to design, support, and troubleshoot SMPTE ST 2110 systems, strong understanding of broadcast infrastructure, and sound judgment under live event pressure. Key competencies include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, cross-functional collaboration, project management, broadcast infrastructure knowledge, live event systems reliability, technical leadership, and broadcast engineering expertise. This position is fully on-site based in Barclays Center, located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. This role requires consistent attendance to support daily operations, foster collaboration, and provide direct support to employees, business partners, and key stakeholders. Ability to work flexible hours to support live events, urgent technical issues, maintenance windows, and last-minute schedule adjustments is crucial. Schedules often include nights, weekends, holidays, long days, late nights, and early mornings, with on-call support as needed.
