Work Arrangement: 5 days/week on-site for Year 1 (dedicated training & onboarding), transitioning to an ultra-flexible 2 days/month on-site in Year 2+Position Overview An established Arizona community association management company is seeking a dependable Full-Charge Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations and full-cycle books across a designated portfolio of properties. This position replaces an upcoming retiree and offers direct, side-by-side training and knowledge transfer to ensure a smooth transition.
Primary Responsibilities: Manage full-cycle, accrual-basis bookkeeping operations for a portfolio of multi-entity community accounts. Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple operating and reserve accounts. Post adjusting journal entries, calculate monthly accruals, record prepaid expenses, and maintain general ledger integrity. Compile and deliver standard monthly financial packages, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and budget-to-actual variance reports. Calculate, track, and bill monthly builder deficit funding allocations and third-party developer shortfalls. Maintain cash management workflows, monitor daily bank feeds, record ACH payments, and prepare cash flow updates. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable subledgers, verifying all entries tie out accurately to the general ledger. Organize workpapers and schedules for year-end tax returns and CPA financial audits.
Key Qualifications
Education: Associate degree (minimum requirement) or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience: 5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in HOA/property management, construction, or manufacturing. Core Knowledge: Strong command of double-entry bookkeeping, accrual-basis accounting, and multi-account balancing. Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with accounting platforms (property management software, QuickBooks, or ERPs) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, basic formulas).Cost Allocations: Familiarity with or strong capability to learn developer deficit calculations and pass-through billing schedules.
