About the role
- Cleans, disinfects, and terminally sterilizes instruments and equipment. Knowledgeable of the function, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment utilized for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge required to accurately assemble all components of trays used within area of responsibility.
- Keeps equipment coordinator informed of any problems or suspected problems with the various pieces of equipment and instruments in their assigned area.
- Uses various sterilization processes that are in place including steam, Sterrad and Steris.
- Maintains event related sterility according to procedure.
- Demonstrates understanding of the decontamination and sterilization process of instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital.
- Demonstrates an understanding of instruments and instrument trays used on a daily basis and the maintenance of those instruments and instrument trays.
- Demonstrates the correct use of Impress Instrument Tracking System in each area.
- Position will report to the Central Service Manager whom is well respected within the organization.
