You'll have an opportunity to leverage your knowledge and skills to install and maintain our overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems, ensuring safe and reliable electric utilities for 500,000+ customers across the Pikes Peak region.Please note that the starting pay rate for this position is set at $62.87/hr. followed by an increase to $66.01/hr. after completing probation (typically six months).What Will You Be Doing?Installing underground or overhead electrical lines by laying pipe, pulling wire, and setting metersConstructing, maintaining, and testing electrical systems and related equipmentRepairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting street light systems, poles, luminaries, and circuitsSwitching or rerouting electrical systems using proper sequencing and connectionsAssuring compliance with safety standards and work practicesOperating line construction vehicles and equipment including wire-pullers, bucket and boom trucks, and various hand toolsPreparing materials for line construction and charging materials to appropriate jobLogging completed work orders and preparing reportsAssisting in training Line Technician apprenticesThis position requires providing emergency response after hours to restore power and repair infrastructure as needed. You will also be subject to working in adverse work and weather conditions, as well as overtime and standby hours as needed.Why Join Our Team?Competitive Pay – Journey Line Technicians receive $58.81/hr. upon completing probation. Overtime is optional, but not typically required.Local Work - Our crews work locally in Colorado Springs supporting our electric system that we are the owner/operator of, and no overnight travel is requiredCombination Crews & Diversity in Work – Our construction crews are combination crews that work on transmission, distribution, overhead, underground, electric lines, and electric infrastructureMunicipal Utility - Competitive pay, pension plan, and job securitySafety and Reliability - We don't just talk about safety - we live it through being a Diamond Designation recipient from APPA for safety, reliability, workforce development, and system improvementsEducation, Experience, and What Else to Know:It is a requirement that qualified candidates will have completed a certified Line Technician apprenticeship programIdeal candidates should have hands-on experience in both overhead AND underground distributionIf you move forward to interview, there will be a climbing and overhead/underground practical test as part of the interview processA valid CDL Class A and a valid, unrestricted driver's license are requiredTwo or more years of experience working as a journey-level lineman is preferredPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions:Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
