Role Description:
The Bookkeeper – Aerospace & Defense is a full-time, on-site role located in Queens, NY. This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including recording transactions, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and maintaining accurate ledgers. The role includes preparing invoices, processing customer payments, monitoring vendor bills, and assisting with month-end closing and financial reporting. The Bookkeeper collaborates with sales, operations, and management to ensure accurate cost tracking for aerospace and defense customers, supports audits and compliance documentation, and helps maintain organized financial records. The role also involves using accounting software and spreadsheets, responding to internal and external inquiries, and contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in bookkeeping and general accounting practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Experience using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar), along with strong Excel and general MS Office skills.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to maintain organized financial records in a high-volume environment.
Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in coordination with internal stakeholders.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Familiarity with manufacturing or distribution environments; aerospace or defense industry experience is a plus.
Understanding of basic compliance and documentation requirements; exposure to quality standards (AS9100, ISO9001) is beneficial.
Ability to work on-site full time in Queens, NY, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; relevant bookkeeping experience may substitute for formal education.
