About the role

The Laser Machine & Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting equipment and brake press machinery to fabricate metal components used in glass manufacturing processes. This role ensures precision, efficiency, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate laser cutting machines to cut materials according to specifications, blueprints, and work orders Program or adjust machine settings for optimal cutting performance and efficiency Operate brake press equipment to bend and form metal components to required dimensions Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production schedules Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances Maintain accurate production records, including job completion and material usage Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of PPE Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes Keep work area clean and organized according to 5S or plant standards Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred 1-3 years of experience operating laser cutting and/or brake press machines (manufacturing or fabrication environment) Experience working in a glass manufacturing or related industry is a plus Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Basic knowledge of machine programming (CNC experience preferred) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, heat, etc.) Work Environment Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to machinery, moving parts, and industrial noise Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots Preferred SkillsCNC programming experience Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement knowledge Forklift or material handling experience Why WorkSource?
