Position Overview: EP Inspections + Commissioning (EPIC) is a growing, Class 1 Special Inspection Agency in Lower Manhattan. We are hiring a full-time Special Inspector with a minimum of 2-3 years of TR-1 special inspection experience in New York City and certifications in Concrete Cast-In-Place and Masonry. Additional certifications in Welding, Bolting, Mechanical, Sprinkler/Standpipe, Fire Stopping, Fire Rated Construction, Energy Code Compliance, or TPP are a strong plus. You will inspect active construction sites for compliance with the New York City Building Code (NYCBC) and approved construction documents, prepare accurate and timely field reports, and coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, and expeditors across a diverse portfolio of NYC projects. A degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: •  Conduct concrete cast-in-place and masonry special inspections on active sites, verifying materials, equipment, and installation methods per the NYCBC and approved construction documents•  Perform additional architectural (fire-stopping, fire-rated construction, TPP) and MEP inspections (mechanical, sprinkler/standpipe, energy code/TR8) — a valued bonus•  Coordinate with field and design teams to resolve constructability issues, track non-compliance items, and verify resolution•  Maintain inspection schedules, field logs, and project documentation, and prepare progress and final reports for sign-off•  Manage billing for assigned projects under the direct supervision of the firm’s Special Inspection PE•  Pursue additional certifications and continuing education as requested Benefits•  High career growth potential•  20 days PTO, increasing to 25 days after five years of service; • Days will be prorated for the first year based upon start date. •  Paid office closure between the Christmas holiday and New Year’s Day•  Commission bonus — earn a tiered commission (up to 5%) on new client business you personally generate for the firm, capped at $10,000 per client•  Medical and dental insurance•  401(k) with 3% matching•  Monthly wellness reimbursement•  Monthly team-building events•  Monthly Omni Card reimbursement for travel to active projects Compensation
Annual Salary: $90,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience*Performance reviews are given every six months (January and July).
