About the role
Instructor in Residence (Genetic Counselor)
Overall project management and coordination:
Facilitate cross-group communications during project execution regarding project scope, goals and deliverables, execution, and completion. This includes monitoring progress on expected deliverables and assigned tasks
Maintain lists of priorities, schedules, action items, accountability, and deliverables in defined areas of the ELSI or clinical translational research projects including work on Biobank.
Champion planning and execution of all research meetings and all relevant documentation. This includes creation and distribution of formal, accurate, and tailored project summaries, according to project delivery timetables
Assist in development of research project databases, which can be queried and workflows for the research team
Demonstrate commitment to creating a positive work environment and high-performance culture, which includes continued effort toward improving processes and workflows, coping with, and supporting change and commitment to a solution driven approach to problem
Research and other activities:
Conduct literature review for the research team
Coordinate recruitment efforts for the assigned research project(s)
Coordinate development of study materials (informed consent, recruitment guide, qualitative interview guide, and web-surveys) with the research team
Assist with dissemination of research findings
Assist with developing patient-facing projects at JAX including work on Biobank
Qualifications:
A M.S. degree in Genetic Counseling (preferred) or Health Care Genetics Program (or equivalent)
Certification from either the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (or equivalent) preferred
Must be comfortable reading and interpreting scientific and medical literature.
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational and database development/management skills
Familiarity with human subject research including IRB submissions, management, coordination, recruitment
