Position Summary:
Lincoln Electric Products Co. is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Skid / Integrated Solutions to support the design and development of integrated, skid-mounted equipment and power distribution solutions. This is a senior-level mechanical engineering position requiring hands-on experience designing skid-mounted systems and integrated equipment packages. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design, layout, integration, and manufacturability of complex skid assemblies while working closely with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Applications Engineering, vendors, and customers. Direct skid design and integrated solutions experience is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical design and development of skid-mounted and integrated equipment solutions from concept through manufacturing and final installation.
Develop complete mechanical layouts, assemblies, structural frames, equipment supports, enclosures, mounting arrangements, and associated components.
Integrate electrical equipment, switchgear, switchboards, transformers, controls, and other system components into skid-mounted assemblies.
Develop and review 3D models, detailed drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
Perform mechanical design calculations and evaluate structural integrity, loading, equipment clearances, weight distribution, lifting requirements, transportation constraints, and installation requirements.
Ensure designs consider manufacturability, serviceability, accessibility, safety, transportation, and field installation.
Work closely with Electrical Engineers to ensure proper mechanical and electrical integration of equipment.
Partner with Manufacturing and Fabrication teams to resolve design and production issues and improve designs for manufacturability.
Provide technical guidance and engineering support throughout fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
Review customer specifications, drawings, technical requirements, and project documentation.
Participate in design reviews and identify technical risks before release to manufacturing.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding components, fabricated assemblies, and technical requirements.
Support continuous improvement, standardization, cost reduction, and development of repeatable skid/integrated solution designs.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical and integration issues during production and field implementation.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers and designers as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.7+ years of progressive mechanical engineering/design experience, preferably in engineered-to-order manufacturing or complex industrial equipment.
Demonstrated professional experience designing skid-mounted equipment, packaged systems, or integrated equipment solutions.
Strong experience with mechanical equipment layout, structural frames, fabricated assemblies, mounting systems, and equipment integration.
Experience designing products that move from engineering into fabrication and manufacturing.
Proficiency with 3D CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, BOMs, fabrication methods, welding, sheet metal, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work effectively across Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and other departments.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple technically complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electrical power distribution equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, transformers, power distribution systems, or similar equipment.
Experience within a switchgear/switchboard OEM, data center infrastructure, modular power systems, packaged power solutions, or similar engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of structural steel design, welded assemblies, sheet metal fabrication, and enclosure design.
Experience with modular or prefabricated electrical/mechanical systems.
Familiarity with applicable industry standards, codes, and customer specifications.
Experience supporting equipment through fabrication, assembly, factory testing, transportation, and field installation.
