About the role
The Barn Caretaker plays an important role in helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our riders, horses, volunteers, and staff. This position assists with daily barn chores and general facility upkeep to help ensure the health and well-being of our horses and the smooth operation of the barn.
Key Responsibilities:
Feed and water horses as directed by staff Clean stalls, paddocks, and barn areas Refill hay and water buckets Assist with turnout and bringing horses in from pasture when needed Help maintain clean and organized tack rooms, aisles, and grooming areas Monitor horses for any noticeable health or behavior concerns and report them to staff Assist with general barn and farm upkeep, including sweeping, cleaning, and minor chores Follow all barn rules, safety procedures, and horse handling guidelines Qualifications Previous horse experience preferred, but not required for all tasks Comfortable working around horses and in a barn environment Ability to work independently and follow instructions Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills Physical Requirements Ability to lift hay, feed, water buckets, and barn supplies Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Commitment Consistency is important in maintaining quality care for our horses and facility. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to a regular schedule whenever possible. Impact Barn Caretakers are essential to the daily care and well-being of our horses.
