About the role
Senior Clerk - 64067399 Under the direct supervision of the Senior Clerical Supervisor, this is a highly visible and skilled position involving exercise of independent judgment and initiative in the Florida Department of Health-Duval (FDOH-Duval) Health Center setting. Provides excellent customer service and quality care experience at every customer encounter for the day-to-day front desk operations, office related duties and billing of medical services provided by the Center. Your specific responsibilities include: Performs front desk operations according to established policies and procedures. Register, verify, and update client demographic information in HMS.Schedules client appointments. Answers, documents and/or transfers telephone calls in a prompt, courteous and professional manners. Retrieves, prepares, and maintains medical records. Monitors, accepts, and reviews all incoming mail and faxes and disseminates to all appropriate parties. Charges entry, collects fees, including co-payments, deductibles, and balances from clients according to the established agency policy or private insurance protocols. Attends in-service education, staff meetings and health promotion activities as directed or indicated. Completes mandatory training within established time frame. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems. Active listening, reading comprehension, speaking, social perceptiveness, time management, writing, service orientation, critical thinking, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech clarity, written comprehension, speech recognition, written expression, category flexibility, and deductive reasoning.
Qualifications:
Must have 2 or more years working in a medical office setting.
Must have at least 2 or more years of experience making medical appointments in a medical office.
Must have at least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment that provides face-to-face interaction.
Must be willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
