About the role
Bus Monitor Bethlehem Area School District is seeking dependable and safety-focused Bus Monitors to assist with the safe transportation of students to and from school. This part-time position is approximately 29 hours per week and includes paid required training prior to beginning the assignment. Bus Monitors work alongside bus drivers to help maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment for all students during transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists the bus driver in safely transporting students to and from school
- Monitors student conduct on the bus or van to maintain a safe and appropriate environment
- Based on a student's individual needs, may assist students with boarding and exiting the bus and securing safety equipment
- Communicates with the bus driver and appropriate staff regarding student needs or concerns
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work effectively with students and maintain a safe and positive transportation environment
- Dependable, patient, and able to follow safety procedures
- Ability to complete required paid training prior to beginning employment
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must undergo and receive a satisfactory result on a pre-employment drug screening
- Must successfully complete and submit all required background clearances in accordance with Pennsylvania School Code employment requirements
- Must complete the Pennsylvania School Personnel Health Record following a conditional job offer and prior to the first day of employment
- Must successfully complete all required Act 168 employment history review requirements prior to beginning employment
