PMJob Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Polishing Operator to work in a manufacturing environment performing finishing and polishing operations on metal components. This position is responsible for removing surface imperfections, excess material, and tooling marks to produce a smooth, high-quality finished surface. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with mechanical metal polishing equipment, abrasive wheels or belts, and polishing compounds. Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
Responsibilities:
Polish metal components using abrasive wheels, belts, buffs, and related equipment. Remove excess metal, surface defects, trim marks, pits, digs, and other imperfections. Select appropriate abrasive wheels, belts, buffs, and compounds based on the material, desired finish, and amount of material being removed. Set up and secure polishing wheels, belts, and related equipment. Safely operate polishing equipment and properly position and manipulate parts during the polishing process. Dress and maintain polishing wheels and buffs to achieve the required finish. Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet established quality and appearance standards. Identify surface inconsistencies, defects, or other quality concerns during the polishing process. Follow established production, quality, and safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Work cooperatively with other members of the production team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in metal polishing, buffing, grinding, or a similar manufacturing finishing operation is strongly preferred. Familiarity with abrasive wheels, belts, buffs, and polishing compounds. Experience selecting abrasives based on material and desired finish is a plus. Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to identify surface defects and determine whether a finished part meets quality standards. Ability to follow detailed instructions and established safety procedures. Reliable and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
