About the role
Job Description:
Proto-Town is a hardware campus in Lockhart where companies build real things prototyping, manufacturing, and frontier hardware, all in one place. We're spinning up a production run of 100 robotic arms and hiring technicians to build them. This is not a maintenance job or a line job at an established plant. You'll be assembling the first hundred units of a new product, which means the process is still being figured out as you go.
What you'll do:
- Assemble robotic arms from drawings and parts kits
- Install motors, sensors, and wiring
- Test each arm and fix what doesn't work (physically)
- Ideal Skillsets
- Hands-on assembly experience: robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive, appliance, medical device, electronics manufacturing, or comparable
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and build from them without hand-holding
- Comfortable with hand tools, torque wrenches, calipers, and a multimeter
- Capable of operating 3d printers
- Genuine attention to detail
- Able to lift 40 lbs and work on your feet
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
