Role Description: The Cyber Security Instructor will deliver engaging, accessible instruction in core cybersecurity concepts to youth and young adult learners in an on-site classroom setting in Memphis, TN. This part-time role includes planning and teaching lessons, developing hands-on labs, and guiding learners through practical exercises related to network security, application security, information security, and malware analysis. The instructor will assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to support different learning styles and experience levels. Additional responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date curriculum content, collaborating with staff to align coursework with industry standards and certification pathways, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment, and modeling professional behavior and ethical cybersecurity practices.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong knowledge in Cybersecurity and Information Security, including foundational principles, best practices, and industry standards. Candidates should possess skills in Network Security, such as secure network design, threat identification, and mitigation techniques. Candidates should possess skills in Application Security, including secure coding concepts and basics of vulnerability identification and remediation. Candidates should possess skills in Malware Analysis, including understanding common malware types, basic analysis methods, and defensive strategies. Experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating training for diverse learners, preferably in a classroom or vocational setting. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and encourage learner engagement. Relevant certifications (e.g., Security, Network, CISSP, CEH, or similar) and/or equivalent professional experience in cybersecurity. Ability to design lesson plans, hands-on labs, and assessments that are aligned with learning objectives and entry-level career pathways. Commitment to youth development, equity, and creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment. High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred.
