About the role

Love history? Love learning about the fascinating, complicated, inspiring stories of the past? Love using historic objects, houses, and spaces to understand another era? Come join us as a docent at Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion. Located in Historic Germantown, Maxwell Mansion was built in 1859, and we interpret the lives and history of Americans who lived through the Sectional Crisis, Industrialization, the Civil War, and the Gilded Age. Restored rooms with period antiques give us the opportunity to tell the stories of these lives. It was an exciting era, and we are excited to share it with our visitors. All docents are trained in the history of the house and era and in historic house museum interpretive methods. For more information, visit our website at www.ebenezermaxwellmansion.org. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
