Tax Manager | Bergen County, NJ | $125k to $150k + BonusAbout the FirmMy client is an award-winning, nationally recognized tax and wealth advisory firm based in Bergen County, NJ. They're growing and looking for a Tax Manager to join their accounting team of around 25 people. While the firm itself is boutique in size, its client base is firmly mid-market, giving you the close-knit feel of a smaller shop with the complexity and caliber of work you'd expect from a larger firm. The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000, plus bonus and benefits, depending on experience. They're committed to a healthy, inclusive and productive work environment. The team works one day a week remotely, with flexible scheduling and early finishes on summer Fridays. Extra hours are expected during tax season (Feb to Apr).
About the Role: This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own the tax engagement process from preparation through review, manage the workflow and staffing behind it, and look after mid-market client relationships directly. You'll also play a big part in developing the team, training new hires at all levels and mentoring staff as the firm continues to grow. Essential Duties / Responsibilities Manage the preparation and review of tax engagements, coordinating staffing and workflow Prepare and review high-level tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections Manage the tax compliance and tax planning process Manage client budgets and production goals Build new and existing client relationships with a strong understanding of each client's business Improve processes by developing and implementing best practices Maintain effective control procedures across all aspects of the tax process Create and deliver training on tax programs and projects for new hires at all levels Mentor staff to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement Develop in-house CPE trainings on relevant topics and industries Support special tax projects and help prepare proposals for new clients Preferred Qualifications / Requirements 5+ years of CPA firm experience, focused on tax preparation Experience working with mid-market clients, ideally from a mid-sized firmA.S./B.S. in AccountingMBA or Master's in Tax/Accounting a plus Active CPA license Proficient in Lacerte, ProSystem fx Tax, QuickBooks and SageStrong MS Office skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables Desired Characteristics Excellent verbal and written communication skills Entrepreneurial, "go getter" attitude Strong analytical, critical thinking and research skills Attention to detail Strong work ethic Exceptional time management Able to work independently or collaboratively
