As a Residential Student Mentor, you will cultivate a supportive and structured living environment that empowers students to achieve their personal and academic goals. You will serve as a key advocate and guide, fostering positive group dynamics and ensuring a safe, inclusive atmosphere for all residents.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate positive student relations by providing mentorship, conflict resolution, and behavioral guidance to support individual growth. Supervise daily dormitory activities, including recreational events and student government meetings, to ensure a structured and engaging environment. Maintain accurate administrative records, including student files, morning reports, and progress evaluations. Coordinate student transportation for off-site activities and appointments while ensuring safety and accountability. Conduct regular room inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure a clean, safe, and functional living space. Lead group counseling sessions and orientation programs to help students develop essential life skills and career readiness. Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to monitor student progress and intervene proactively when behavioral support is needed. Model professional behavior and maintain a campus climate free from harassment and intimidation.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and drug screenings. Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
Preferred Skills:
Associate’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related human services field. Two or more years of experience working directly with youth in a residential or educational setting. Prior experience within a structured residential youth program or Job Corps environment. Demonstrated ability to manage administrative documentation and safety compliance protocols.
