Materials Handler
Wage:
$20 - $24.84 per hour based upon Experience. The Materials Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, staging, and documentation of materials within the facility and during shipping/receiving operations. This role supports production by ensuring all materials are properly handled, verified, and delivered in accordance with project requirements and company standards. This is a fully on-site position. The employee will complete a minimum 90-day on-site training period at Epsilon Industries' Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility and will receive a per diem of $500 per week during the training period. Upon completion of training, the position will transfer to and remain fully on-site at Epsilon Industries' Oxford, Alabama facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Rig modules and materials for loading and unloading using proper rigging techniques
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts and overhead cranes in a safe and controlled manner
- Read and interpret Bills of Material (BOMs) to accurately pull and stage materials for production
- Verify incoming materials against BOMs and packing slips to ensure accuracy of deliveries
- Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies or issues
- Accurately document materials received and shipped, including preparation of Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Maintain organized staging areas to support efficient production flow
- Communicate with production, logistics, and supervision to ensure material readiness
- Follow all company safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to safely operate forklifts (certification preferred or required)
- Experience with rigging and safe material handling practices
- Ability to read and understand Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Experience with overhead crane operation (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as required
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods
- Ability to work in an industrial/shop environment
