In this role, you will provide specialized therapeutic services to older adults dealing with a wide range of psychiatric concerns. Our practice emphasizes a holistic approach to mental health care, addressing conditions like depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and the psychological impacts of aging. With a collaborative team of experienced geriatric psychiatrists, we ensure that our patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their unique needs.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily remote but may require occasional in-office meetings to foster teamwork and collaboration. Our work environment encourages open communication and shared insight among team members, allowing for a highly supportive atmosphere that prioritizes the mental well-being of our patients. You will work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of needing to accommodate evening shifts based on patient care requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly patients, ensuring a thorough understanding of their unique psychosocial environment.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that consider cognitive changes, social factors, and distinct physical health needs.Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as individual and family therapy, to effectively manage geriatric psychiatric illnesses.Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals for integrated and holistic treatment approaches.Deliver crisis intervention when necessary, offering immediate support during mental health emergencies.Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, treatment methodologies, and community resources available for support.Maintain accurate and secure documentation in compliance with the legal and ethical standards governing mental health practices.Engage in team meetings and case consultations, contributing your insights for collective learning and professional development.Keep abreast of advancements in geriatric psychiatry and incorporate best practices into your therapeutic approach.Patient Population / Client FocusThis role focuses primarily on serving elderly individuals who may face mental health challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, neurocognitive disorders, and adjustment difficulties related to aging. Understanding the complexities of geriatric mental health is essential to offering the most effective care and improving our patients' quality of life.QualificationsA Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.A strong foundation in geriatric mental health treatment theories and practices.Excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust and rapport with elderly clients and their families.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient information efficiently.Preferred ExperienceA minimum of two years of post-licensure experience working within geriatric mental health settings is preferred.Experience providing both individual therapy to seniors and family therapy that specifically addresses family dynamics affected by aging.In-depth knowledge of evidence-based interventions tailored for the geriatric population, along with a commitment to continuous learning.Compensation and BenefitsThe salary for this position ranges between USD 100,000 and 120,000 annually.
