The culture emphasizes purposeful execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement for employees, partners, and customers.
Role Description: The Robotics Mechanical and Weld Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Des Moines Metropolitan Area. This role focuses on designing and engineering robotic welding cells, including mechanical components, tooling, and fixturing to meet customer requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing welding processes and parameters, creating detailed mechanical drawings and specifications, collaborating with automation and controls engineers on system integration, and supporting robotic programming teams to ensure weld quality and system performance. The engineer will participate in installation and commissioning activities, troubleshoot mechanical and weld-related issues, and provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel. The role also involves continuous improvement of welding automation solutions, adherence to safety and quality standards, and close communication with project managers and customers to ensure successful delivery.
Qualifications: Strong mechanical engineering skills related to robotics, including mechanical design, tooling/fixturing, and system integration. Experience with welding engineering, such as weld process development, parameter optimization, weld quality inspection, and familiarity with common welding methods used in automation. Proficiency with SolidWorks software and engineering documentation, including creating 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications. Ability to collaborate with robotic programmers and controls engineers, with a solid understanding of how mechanical and weld design impacts robot paths, cycle time, and cell layout. Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication practices, including machining, metal forming, and assembly, and how they relate to automated welding cells. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and weld issues in a production environment. Effective communication and teamwork abilities, including clear technical writing, willingness to support training, and capability to work closely with customers and cross-functional teams. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field. Familiarity with safety standards, quality management practices, and continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma) in industrial settings. Prior experience with robotic welding systems or industrial automation in a production environment is preferred.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
