Regional Sales Manager – Rigid Food Packaging
Location: Remote – Eastern United States Territory: East of the Mississippi River
Travel: Approximately 30%Base Salary: $100,000–$130,000 Commission: $60,000–$100,000+ | Uncapped Expected First-Year Earnings: Approximately $160,000+An established food packaging manufacturer is seeking an experienced sales professional to grow its rigid thermoformed packaging business across the Eastern United States. This role combines business development, technical packaging expertise, and major retail knowledge. You will work with food manufacturers and private label producers to develop packaging solutions for products sold through major grocery, mass retail, and club store organizations. The ideal candidate understands what retail category managers expect from packaging and can help customers translate those requirements into solutions that are attractive, functional, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
What You'll Do: Develop new business with food manufacturers, processors, and private label producers. Identify emerging and smaller manufacturers with opportunities to expand into major retail channels. Work with customers throughout the packaging design, development, and commercialization process. Advise customers on packaging requirements and expectations of major retailers such as Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Costco, Sam's Club, and similar organizations. Provide insight into what retail category managers look for when evaluating products and packaging. Apply knowledge of rigid thermoforming to advise customers on materials, design options, manufacturing capabilities, and limitations. Collaborate with internal technical and manufacturing teams to develop commercially viable packaging solutions. Grow existing accounts while building a strong pipeline of new opportunities.
What We're Looking For: Experience selling rigid thermoformed food packaging. Strong technical understanding of rigid packaging materials and thermoforming processes. Experience supporting packaging programs from concept and design through commercialization. Knowledge of major grocery, mass retail, or club store packaging requirements. Experience working directly with retailers and/or food manufacturers developing products for those retailers. Proven new business development experience within food packaging. Experience with PET, RPET, recycled content, and sustainable packaging materials is a strong plus. Private label food packaging experience and established industry relationships are highly desirable. Location & Compensation Candidates must reside east of the Mississippi River due to the location of the customer base and territory. Base salary is $100,000–$130,000, based on relevant experience, education, technical expertise, and customer relationships.
