About the role
Job Description:
Daybreak Metro, a well-established repossession company operating across California, is looking for an experienced automotive key technician to join our in-house locksmith team. You'll handle live jobs across the Bay Area with a fully equipped mobile key van.
About the Role:
The mobile key van can be staged out of San Jose, Newark, Richmond, or Benicia — whichever location works best for you — and you'll travel to yards across all four locations as needed. The van is stocked with current-generation key-cutting machines and programming software. This is active, outdoor work — you'll be on your feet, handling a wide range of vehicles, in all kinds of weather.
What You'll Do:
Perform key cutting, automotive key programming, and lock servicing across a variety of vehicles
Work live jobs across Bay Area locations
Apply advanced locksmith and programming techniques independently
Travel between yards as part of a mobile key van team
What We're Looking For:
Minimum one year of experience in automotive key programming, locksmithing, or a related field
Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Own cell phone
23 years of age or older (insurance requirement)
Able to pass a drug screening
Current California Locksmith license, or eligibility to obtain one through the State of California
Schedule & Pay Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
$28 - $32/hour, depending on experience
Benefits:
80% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
100% company-paid life insurance
401(k) with 4% company match
Company-paid California Locksmith license
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
