ARD Secretary, Special Education Align the assignment's major responsibilities and duties with district goals so that all students succeed. High school diploma or GED required Proficient keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Basic math skills and calculator operations Ability to use computer software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing documents Ability to use a copier, fax machine, and multifunction telephone system Ability to maintain confidentiality Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation Strong organizational and time-management skills Knowledge of special education terminology and the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) process Bilingual in Spanish, both oral and written, preferred Two years of secretarial experience, preferably in the public education environment Compile pertinent data when preparing various federal, state, and local reports. Schedule, complete, and send ARD notices to parents and relevant staff via multiple channels within mandated timelines. Assist assessment staff in compiling documentation in preparation for ARD meetings and evaluations. Create and maintain physical and computerized department files. Assist in providing documentation to appropriate personnel to ensure accurate scheduling for students receiving special education services. Answer incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route them to the appropriate staff using professional communication. Assist special education staff with IEP document preparation, dissemination, and data entry. Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. Participate in professional growth activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control while under stress. Extended periods of work seated at a desk, repetitive hand motions, and prolonged use of the computer. Bryan ISD is an equal opportunity employer.
