Compensation: $165,000 – $230,000 (Base + Bonus)
Locations: Raleigh, NC & Milwaukee, WIPower Technology Associates, Inc. is conducting a search for a leading global energy infrastructure firm seeking Power Systems Engineers to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for advanced electrification, microgrid, and data center applications. Openings are available at the Senior, Staff, and Principal levels. You will lead technical studies, support business development, and collaborate with global engineering teams to design next-generation power systems. Qualified candidates should have experience in power systems modeling, simulation and analysis for utility-scale, industrial, renewable energy, microgrid, and data center applications. Core Focus Areas Utility-scale renewable energy integration & Grid Modernization Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & MicrogridsAI & Hyperscale Data Center power architectures Advanced power electronics & Industrial power systems
Key Responsibilities: Power System Analysis & Studies: Lead complex electrical analyses, including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Transient Stability, Electromagnetic Transient (EMT), Arc Flash, and Grounding designs. Microgrid design & Grid Integration: Model complex microgrids in grid-connected, islanded, and black-start modes. Integrate inverter-based resources, energy storage, and backup generation. Manage ISO/RTO interconnection studies. Technical Leadership: Serve as technical lead on customer projects, manage third-party consultants, and support technical proposals and presentations.
Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (specializing in Power Systems/Electronics).
Experience: 6+ years executing power system simulations for utility, renewable, or data center applications.
Technical Skills: Experience modeling grid-forming/grid-following inverters, converter controls, and medium-voltage distribution systems. Software: Proficiency with industry-standard power modeling tools (e.g., standard transient, steady-state, and EMT simulation software).
Preferred Skills: (Bonus)Field-validating EMT models, HIL testing, or advanced grid-forming controls. Deep knowledge of AI/Hyperscale data center power infrastructure. Familiarity with utility protection coordination, HVDC systems, or FACTS devices (STATCOM, SVC).
