About the role
- Conduct and document regular jobsite inspections and audits, with a focus on hazard recognition, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behavior.
- Coordinate EHS planning with project superintendents from mobilization through demobilization, including site-specific safety plans and job hazard analyses.
- Verify implementation of critical controls specific to underground work: atmospheric monitoring and ventilation, confined space entry, shaft and ground support, excavation, crane and rigging operations, and emergency rescue planning.
- Monitor environmental compliance on site, including stormwater and erosion control, dewatering and discharge, slurry and spoil management, and noise and dust.
- Lead post-accident and incident investigations, perform root-cause analysis, and issue clear written reports with corrective actions, then follow up until they are closed. In the office
- Develop, write, and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, and procedures, and lead their rollout across all projects.
- Maintain accurate EHS records (OSHA logs, inspections, training, permits, required postings) and present trends and recommendations to management.
- Deploy Soletanche Bachy and VINCI Group HSE standards, policies, and campaigns at Bradshaw, aligning them with U.S. regulatory requirements and site realities.
- Prepare and submit periodic HSE and environmental reporting to the group (incident data, frequency and severity rates, leading indicators, environmental and carbon data), ensuring the data is complete, consistent, and verified.
- Coordinate with group HSE teams on audits, incident notifications, lessons-learned sharing, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Act as the company’s point of contact with regulatory agencies, owners, consultants, insurers, and vendors, including during agency inspections.
- Support the prequalification of subcontractors and participate in bid and process reviews by providing hazard analyses and EHS input. Training and communication
- Design and deliver EHS training, from new-hire orientations and toolbox talks to formal courses for supervisors and competent persons, adapted to each audience: hands-on for crews, structured and data-driven for managers.
- Mentor superintendents and foremen so that they own safety on their projects, and promote EHS awareness through regular communications and lessons learned; administer the safety incentive program. WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of EHS experience in construction; heavy civil, tunneling, or underground experience strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926, including Subpart S – Underground Construction) and applicable federal and state environmental regulations.
- CSP, CHST or ASP certification preferred; OSHA 500 (authorized trainer) a strong plus.
- Experience with management systems (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001) and with corporate or group-level HSE reporting is a plus; experience in an international group is an asset. Skills and qualities
- Rigorous and methodical: you are precise in your inspections, your documentation, and your follow-through, and you do not let corrective actions slip.
- A natural teacher: you can explain why a rule exists, not only what it says, and you make training engaging for crews and managers alike.
- Excellent communicator: clear and credible in writing and in person, from a five-minute toolbox talk to a presentation to senior management or an owner.
- Versatile and autonomous: you move easily between desk and field work, take initiative, and find practical solutions to complex issues on a live jobsite.
- Proficient with technology: Microsoft Office, data analysis, and digital inspection or reporting platforms.
- Travel to project sites approximately 50% of the time; a valid driver’s license is required.
- Regular work in tunnels, shafts, and confined spaces: ability to climb ladders, walk uneven ground, and wear required PPE (including respirators), with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, plus profit sharing
- Short- and long-term disability; life and dependent life insurance
- Employee Assistance Program
- Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
- Tuition reimbursement and support for professional certifications
- Career development opportunities within the Soletanche Bachy and VINCI network
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
