About the role

Director of Engineering - Gas-Fired Generation Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity. Talisman is currently retained by a growing power solutions business delivering on-site, gas-fired generation to large-load energy customers across North America. Working with data center, industrial, and oil & gas offtakers, the company builds, owns, and operates behind-the-meter and grid-adjacent generation assets that bring multi-megawatt load online on timelines conventional utility interconnection cannot support. As the platform scales across a growing project pipeline, the business is building out its internal engineering function to standardize design, manage OEM and supply chain exposure, and support increasingly complex customer commitments.
Responsibilities: Own the technical design basis for gas-fired generation packages, covering gensets, fuel delivery, balance of plant, emissions control, switchgear, and interconnection for islanded and grid-parallel operation. Lead engineering delivery from conceptual sizing through detailed design, vendor package review, and commissioning support, owning design reviews and technical risk. Establish repeatable plant configurations and equipment standards that scale across sites, feeding O&M performance data back into design. Build and lead the engineering function, including team structure, discipline coverage, and scope split between the internal team and external EPC and owner's engineer partners. Act as senior technical authority in commercial pursuits, shaping generation sizing, cost inputs to pricing, and technical terms within energy services agreements. Set technology and equipment strategy, directing OEM relationships and managing lead-time positioning in a constrained turbine and engine supply market.
Experience Required: 10+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience with reciprocating engines or gas turbines for multi-megawatt on-site, behind-the-meter/fast-tracked power projects. Ownership of distributed gas-fired generation from design through commissioning. Experience leading engineering teams and managing external EPC, owner's engineer, and OEM partners across concurrent projects. Track record building or scaling an engineering function within a growth-stage platform. Customer-facing technical experience with large-load offtakers, translating reliability and availability requirements into engineered scope. xhmxlyz BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; PE preferred.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
