Role Description:
The VP, Marketing & Communications is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Miami, FL, responsible for overseeing all marketing, brand, and communications strategies for the Miami-Dade Beacon Council. This role leads the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that promote Greater Miami as a premier business destination and highlight the organization’s impact across its key pillars. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing strategic communications plans, supervising media relations, guiding content development across channels, and ensuring consistent messaging to stakeholders, investors, community partners, and the public. The VP will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support economic development initiatives, oversee agency and vendor relationships, monitor performance metrics, and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights. The position also involves mentoring team members, managing budgets, and representing the organization at events, meetings, and public engagements.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in Marketing Communications and Marketing, with experience leading brand-building and campaign strategy in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Strong background in Strategic Communications, including message development, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in Media Relations, with a track record of securing coverage, managing press inquiries, and building relationships with local, national, and industry media. Experience in Integrated Marketing, coordinating digital, social, content, events, and traditional channels to deliver cohesive, measurable campaigns. Proven leadership experience managing teams, budgets, and external partners, preferably in economic development, public sector, nonprofit, or regional marketing organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences, including business leaders, public officials, and community stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and KPIs to evaluate marketing effectiveness and inform strategic decisions. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are beneficial. Familiarity with the Greater Miami business landscape and economic development issues
