About the role

Job Description: Spherion has a temp to hire opening for a Civil CADD Drafter in the Opelousas, LA area. This full-time, on-site role focuses on creating technical civil engineering plans, including bridges, roads, and general infrastructure, primarily using Micro Station. You will work side-by-side with project managers and engineers to build accurate construction submittals (alignments, profiles, quantity estimations) that meet Louisiana DOTD guidelines.
Schedule: Full-time, 40-hour workweek. Exact daily hours will be determined upon hire, but will fall within the company's operating hours of Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Pay Rate: $18-35/hr. Depending on Experience
Responsibilities: - Software Expertise: Create detailed civil, bridge, and roadway plan packages primarily using Micro Station (Open Roads/InRoads familiarity is a plus).- Technical Mapping: Develop accurate project alignments, elevation profiles, cross-sections, and material quantity estimations.- Regulatory Alignment: Follow all Louisiana DOTD CAD specifications, guidelines, and standards across every drawing.- Cross-Team Coordination: Work alongside project managers, engineers, and surveyors to advance design plans efficiently.-Data Management: Keep drawing files organized, precise, and strictly aligned with established CAD protocols.-Quality Assurance: Conduct detailed drafting QA/QC reviews to maintain high accuracy and meet strict project schedules.-General Project Support: Assist with supplemental drafting tasks across various civil engineering initiatives as needed.
Skills: - State Submittal Track Record: Hands-on experience assembling and delivering official DOTD project packages.- Civil Design Fundamentals: Solid grasp of roadway geometry, site grading, drainage systems, and bridge structural elements.-Secondary CAD/BIM Tools: Working knowledge of additional drafting programs like AutoCAD Civil 3D.-Core Software Mastery: Skills in Micro Station, ideally backed by Open Roads or InRoads experience.-Transportation Infrastructure Background: Practical experience working on state DOTD bridge and highway design projects.

Experience: 1-4 years
Qualifications: - Blueprint Proficiency: Read, interpret, and generate complex civil engineering drawing packages.- Multitasking & Organization: Effectively manage priorities and track details across several simultaneous projects.- Team Collaboration: Communicate clearly and work productively alongside engineers, surveyors, and project leads.-On-Site Requirement: Work reliably from the office during regular business hours (100% in-office role).
