Description:
CNC Operator / Machinist-in-Training LocationFarmingdale, NY Employment Type: Full-Time About the RoleSuperior Motion Controls is seeking motivated CNC Operators and Machinists-in-Training to join our precision manufacturing team in Farmingdale, NY. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational CNC experience who are eager to grow into full setup machinists through hands- on training and mentorship. Team members will contribute immediately while developing advanced machining skills that support critical defense and aerospace manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do:
Operate CNC machining centers under the guidance of experienced machinists Learn to set up and run parts from start to finish Assist in producing precision components per engineering drawings and specifications Learn to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and GD&T requirements Perform in-process and finished part inspections Learn proper tool selection, speeds, feeds, and fixture setup Support routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting Maintain production records and setup documentation Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment Must-Have Skills and Experience(These are required for consideration.) Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a CNC manufacturing environment Basic experience operating CNC machinery Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Basic knowledge of precision measuring instruments including: Micrometers Calipers Height gauges Dial indicators Ability to work independently and follow instructions Nice-to-Have Skills(These are preferred but not required.) Experience with Fanuc, Haas, OKK, or similar CNC control platforms Exposure to blueprint reading or GD&T Experience working in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing Experience with vertical or horizontal mills Familiarity with steel, aluminum, stainless steel, or Inconel materials Who You AreEager to learn and grow within the machining trade Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Safety conscious and dependable Interested in building a long-term career in CNC machining and advanced manufacturing Additional DetailsSchedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:30 PM, with overtime available including Saturdays and extended weekday hours Salary Range: $26-$28/hour DOE Travel: None expected Certifications: No certifications required Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match after 30 days PTO accrual begins immediately 12 paid federal holidays
