About the role
Operator (I) Safely and efficiently operating a variety of equipment and responsible for inspecting, providing preventative maintenance and reporting any equipment concerns to management. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, and use hands regularly throughout the workday. The position requires the ability to regularly lift and move merchandise of varying weights. Lifting equipment or assistance is available for heavier items. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Operates machinery to move inventory throughout the facility in a safe manner without damaging equipment, inventory or company property Performs required inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure safe operating conditions Assisting with the production of dismantling vehicles Responsible for crushing vehicle inventory Load inventory into appropriate facilities, containers, trucks, or trailers Keep all equipment clean and functioning Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary Use various pieces of equipment or attachments to perform excavation and sitework Coordinates removal of cores/commodities when necessary May be required to assist with snow removal in winter months Follows all safety policies and procedures Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry. Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver's license. Forklift certification. Training and certification available.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and communicate regularly via walkie talkie. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. For heavier merchandise lifting devices and/or assistance is required.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. This is a smoke free environment for safety reasons. The work environment may involve elevated noise levels at times.
