About the role
We are seeking an experienced PV Solar Field Tech Leader (Advanced) to lead the safe, efficient installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of utility-scale photovoltaic solar systems. This role is suited to a technically capable field professional who can coordinate site activities, guide technicians and contractors, and resolve complex electrical, mechanical and performance issues in challenging outdoor environments. You will act as a senior point of contact on site, helping ensure work is completed to approved designs, safety standards, quality requirements and project schedules. Responsibilities will include supervising daily field operations; allocating tasks and monitoring productivity; supporting the installation and testing of modules, mounting systems, inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, cabling and related balance-of-system equipment; and carrying out fault-finding, corrective maintenance and system diagnostics. You will review drawings, method statements and technical documentation, complete inspection and test records, verify workmanship, and assist with energisation, commissioning and performance verification. The role will also involve coordinating with engineering, project management, grid and subcontractor teams, managing tools and materials, reporting progress, and contributing to improvements in work methods and site processes. A strong commitment to safe working practices, environmental controls and accurate documentation is essential. Applicants should have substantial hands-on experience in utility-scale solar PV, electrical construction, commissioning or renewable energy operations, with proven experience leading field teams. A relevant electrical, engineering or trade qualification is desirable, together with a sound understanding of DC and AC systems, electrical testing, isolation procedures, inverter technology and solar plant controls. You must be able to interpret technical drawings, use digital reporting systems, work at height where required and operate effectively in remote or variable site conditions. Strong communication, practical problem-solving, organisation and leadership skills are essential. A valid driver's licence, willingness to travel or work away from home, and the ability to meet site medical, safety and background requirements may also be required.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
