Job Description: This job is posted on behalf of Advanced Technical Staffing Solutions by Top Echelon. ATSS has a client in Pascagoula, MS looking for First Class Shipfitters.
Must haves: Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Be able to read/write/communicate in English
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 Yrs. trade experience
  • Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
  • Read and interpret blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
  • Knowledge of the layout, fit-up and fabrication of steel plate and beam.
  • Experience with various trade specific tools such as: grinder, hand torch, hydraulic and ratchet jack, chain fall and/or come-a-long, combination square, framing square, hand level and plumb bob
  • Preferred Design Disciplines:6+ Yrs. marine, shipbuilding and construction experience
  • Knowledge of setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of Datum Lines
  • Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blue print reading skills
Job Description: A First-Class Shipfitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Shipfitter or a Boilermaker, is responsible for various tools and equipment used in the fabrication, assembling and erection of metal components at the various stages in constructing a marine vessel. Shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Shipfitter may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Company stresses the practice of working safely in all situations, with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

Duration: Initially 1 year
Base Pay Range: $42 per hour, depending on level of experience Per Diem ($180) is available for candidates 75 miles away (verification required via current utility bill)· Start Date As soon as possibleNOTE:Please be advised that any candidates who proceed will be required to travel to Pascagoula, MS to do a skills test and/or interview, Hair Follicle Test, and Respirator Fit Test. You will also be required to pass a background check with no violent felonies.
