About the role

About the Opportunity: Upward On is partnering with a boutique, full-service commercial real estate brokerage on the search for an experienced Director of Leasing to lead and grow its leasing practice. This is a hands-on leadership role for a seasoned New York City commercial real estate professional who combines strong deal experience with the ability to develop business, build relationships, and recruit and mentor agents. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of the NYC commercial leasing market, an established network, and the ability to provide strategic guidance throughout the leasing process while helping shape the continued growth of the firm. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the leasing pipeline, ensuring transactions move efficiently from initial client engagement through lease execution. Drive new business development, identifying new landlord and tenant representation opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, tenants, brokers, and other industry professionals to generate repeat and referral business. Recruit, train, mentor, and develop agents, providing guidance on deal strategy, negotiation, prospecting, and market best practices. Oversee pricing strategy and market positioning for listings. Stay current on market activity, comparables, and trends across NYC submarkets. Partner with senior leadership on growth strategy and goals for the leasing division. Ensure transactions and documentation are handled consistently and in accordance with firm standards and best practices.
Qualifications: Active New York State Real Estate Salesperson or Broker license required.5+ years of commercial real estate leasing experience with a demonstrated transaction track record. Deep familiarity with the New York City commercial leasing market. Established relationships within the landlord, tenant, and brokerage communities. Strong business development and relationship-building abilities. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of agents.
