About the role

Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer (Kubernetes & Bare Metal)I'm recruiting for a global investment firm building a large-scale, on-premises compute platform for its research and investment teams. This is a hands-on role focused on the software control systems behind Kubernetes clusters, bare metal servers and virtualized infrastructure. You'll help create reliable, reproducible compute environments that people across the business depend on around the clock.
What you'll do:
  • Build fault-tolerant distributed systems for research and investment workloads.
  • Develop software guardrails that enforce standards and make compute environments reproducible.
  • Scale and harden Kubernetes and bare metal infrastructure.
  • Write Python to automate and improve the platform.
  • Partner with application developers to understand their needs and remove infrastructure bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, on-call support and planned maintenance.
  • The environment:
  • You'll work with Kubernetes on bare metal, RPM-based Linux, open-source virtualization and an established AI environment with access to open-source and frontier models.
What we're looking for: 6+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale compute infrastructure. Deep Kubernetes knowledge from both the infrastructure and application perspectives. Experience managing bare metal servers at scale. Strong Linux engineering skills and the ability to write Python. Experience tuning low-latency environments and IP network performance, including routing. Practical experience with disaster recovery and business continuity. The ability to work effectively with developers, researchers and other stakeholders. This role would suit someone who wants to build the software that controls infrastructure as well as engineer the underlying compute platform. You'll have ownership of complex problems across Kubernetes, Linux, virtualization and networking. If you've built large-scale Kubernetes and bare metal environments, I'd be keen to hear from you.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
