The Role: We are hiring a Senior Manager, Interconnection & Regulatory Affairs to join the Development team in Arlington, VA. This position will manage interconnection strategy and execution across PJM, MISO, and relevant utilities, supporting projects from early-stage screening through Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) and Commercial Operation Date (COD).The role will also monitor regulatory and market developments that may affect project economics, development strategy, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities: Manage interconnection activities across PJM, MISO, and relevant utilities from early-stage screening through GIA and COD.Manage queue positions, study processes, deposits, security requirements, milestones, and interconnection agreements. Assess interconnection capacity, network upgrade requirements, schedule risks, and cost exposure. Provide clear recommendations to Development and senior management regarding interconnection opportunities and risks. Monitor FERC, ISO/RTO, state, and utility regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on the development portfolio. Support engagement with PJM, MISO, utilities, consultants, external counsel, and other relevant stakeholders. Support project- and portfolio-level go/no-go decisions from an interconnection and regulatory perspective. Support greenfield development, new-market opportunities, M&A, and data center opportunities through interconnection and regulatory diligence. Coordinate internal team members and external consultants supporting interconnection activities. Maintain clear portfolio-level reporting on interconnection status, milestones, commitments, and key risks.
Qualifications: 3+ years of relevant experience in interconnection, transmission, regulatory affairs, or power-market development. Strong working knowledge of PJM and MISO interconnection processes; experience with both is preferred. Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy and battery storage development. Familiarity with FERC, utility, and ISO/RTO regulatory matters preferred. Strong commercial judgment with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory matters into actionable recommendations. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to independently manage multiple projects, deadlines, and external counterparties. Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; other educational backgrounds will be considered based on relevant experience.
