About the job Senior Utilities Project Engineer Senior Utilities Project EngineerCompany: Confidential - food manufacturer Location: Newport News, VA Compensation: $95,000 - $117,000 + bonus Employment Type: Full-time About the CompanyOur client is a food manufacturer operating production facilities that rely on industrial ammonia refrigeration, boiler and compressed air systems.
The Role: As Senior Utilities Project Engineer, you will optimize and manage utility systems across the company's facilities, focused on industrial refrigeration, boiler and compressed air systems and their design, operation and optimization. You will troubleshoot and improve existing systems, implement new projects and advise on regulatory matters, keeping these systems efficient, safe and compliant.
What You Will Do: Work with facilities teams and project engineering to develop capital infrastructure plans. Engage professional refrigeration engineering resources during project design and development. Support facilities and the PSM management team on compliance issues. Help develop designs, including selecting equipment, obtaining quotes and scheduling work. Develop and implement solutions to facility refrigeration system issues. Implement new systems and standardize equipment requirements. Support planning and budgeting for utilities engineering improvement projects. Optimize utility systems to facility operating requirements, and research and test new technology. Identify and correct deficiencies in existing systems through load, charge and relief calculations. Lead multiple efforts across disciplines while following proper protocols and practices. What You BringBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of experience in operating, maintaining and optimizing ammonia refrigeration systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience RETA CIRO, IIAR ANSI/IIAR-2, Garden City Program Operator II, or an equivalent certification from a nationally recognized ammonia training program (required) Deep theoretical understanding of industrial refrigeration systems and the ability to apply it Strong reading, math, writing and analytical skills Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision Willingness to travel to other locations about 50% of the time Nice to HaveElectrical troubleshooting in low- and high-voltage circuits, motors and controls Wastewater operations experience
