IT Technician Greater Indianapolis Area First shift: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PMFull time, direct hire opportunity
Position Overview: The IT Technician serves as the primary point of contact for employees requiring technical assistance within a production environment. This role supports daily technology operations across manufacturing and business functions, ensuring reliable performance of hardware, software, network-connected devices, and business applications. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining operational uptime by troubleshooting technical issues, supporting end users, provisioning equipment and accounts, assisting with cybersecurity initiatives, and collaborating with both internal stakeholders and third-party technology partners. The ideal candidate is hands-on, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting where technology availability directly impacts production operations.
Key Responsibilities: End User Support Serve as the first line of support for employee hardware, software, and application issues. Configure and deploy computers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment for new employees. Support user account creation, modification, and access requests. Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, operating system, and application issues. Provide user support and training for Microsoft 365 and other business applications. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and support activities. Manage support requests through a ticketing system and ensure timely resolution. Infrastructure & Security Support Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations. Review and respond to security notifications and alerts. Help maintain compliance with cybersecurity and IT security requirements. Support remote monitoring and management platforms. Troubleshoot and escalate network connectivity issues involving wired and wireless environments. Assist with maintaining secure access to IT infrastructure and equipment. Hardware & Manufacturing Technology Support Install, repair, and maintain: Desktop computers Laptops Tablets Industrial printers Office printers Handheld scanners Conference room technology Support technology systems used throughout manufacturing and operational areas. Coordinate with remote IT personnel and external vendors to resolve complex issues. Project & Process Support Assist with technology implementations and infrastructure projects. Document technical procedures and maintain internal knowledge resources. Identify opportunities to improve support processes, reliability, and user experience. Support various technology systems and platforms utilized within the organization. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment: Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required. Work is performed around active production equipment and machinery. Must be comfortable operating in a dynamic industrial environment. Ability to lift and transport computer equipment, monitors, printers, and related hardware.
Required Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in an IT support, desktop support, help desk, or technician role, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience. Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems. Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and connectivity troubleshooting. Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware. Experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account access, and connectivity issues. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and services. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting users in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Background in desktop support, help desk, or technical support operations. Experience supporting enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Experience supporting industrial printing and labeling solutions. Familiarity with endpoint management, remote support, and monitoring platforms. Experience with user provisioning and identity/access management. Understanding of patch management, endpoint protection, and cybersecurity best practices. Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
