About the role

Mechanic/Locksmith Responsible for the maintenance and repair of locking devices and building locking systems components. Work includes installing, replacing, inspecting, testing, cleaning, preventive maintenance and repair of new and existing equipment. Also responsible for periodic repairs on diesel powered equipment and small engine repairs. Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent, Valid Texas driver's license. Ability to communicate well and deal with all people in a courteous and positive manner. Capability to read and interpret building plans and specifications. Locksmith Maintain specific keyed locking systems installed at buildings, exterior doors, interior doors, special needs security doors. Analyze each job assignment and consult with Supervisor if material is needed. Keep records on labor and material of each job assignment and report to Supervisor. Repair all locks and locking devices throughout the district. Install new locks and rekey existing locks as needed. Make all repairs or replacements on door closures and door adjustments. Work with building principals to ensure each building maintains a master key system. Work with Supervisor on any emergencies that arise as needed. Mechanic Perform periodic repairs to diesel or hydraulic equipment such as skid steers, backhoes and excavators as needed. Perform repairs to small engine equipment as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Periodic supervision of support staff assigned to maintenance department. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; district vehicle Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
