About the role

Job Description: Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer supports the electro-mechanical assembly shop at Freeberg's Eloy, AZ facility as the Engineering department's on-site representative - the eyes, ears, and support system for both Engineering and Production. The role is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the assembly processes, lifting and handling methods, tooling, and work instructions that turn fabricated sub-assemblies into finished generator enclosures and integrated electro-mechanical products - including crane and rigging operations, large-assembly fit-up, mechanical and electrical integration, and UL 2200 / customer specification compliance. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Production, Project Management, Quality, Purchasing, and the Escondido-based Engineering team to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance through line layout, takt-based line balancing, fixture and lifting-device design, work instruction development, and continuous improvement - identifying assembly and integration issues early and feeding floor-level findings back to Design Engineering.
Qualifications: Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline; equivalent technical training and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly, crane/rigging operations, and integration of enclosures, controls, and wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data management.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in heavy mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly; this is not an entry-level position.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; strong written communication skills - this role authors the work instructions the floor runs on.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify compliant) and a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62) due to access to export-controlled technical data. Preferred
  • Experience planning and running an integration assembly floor for electro-mechanical assemblies (enclosures, controls, wiring, and mechanical sub-assemblies).
  • Experience with generator enclosures, power generation equipment, or similar large integrated products; familiarity with UL 2200, NFPA 37/110, and NEMA/IP enclosure ratings.
  • Experience designing or specifying below-the-hook lifting devices, crane plans, and rigging for large assemblies (ASME B30.20, BTH-1).
  • Familiarity with electrical assembly practices - wire routing, terminations, grounding/bonding, and UL 508A or similar control panel standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • JobBOSS2 or similar ERP/MES systems; experience standing up a new facility, production line, or product.
  • ASQ, SME, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems; Spanish as a second language is a plus.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
