Job Description: Job Description MUST HAVE TWIC CARD.We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to support cargo handling and daily operations at the Port of Alabama. The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial forklifts in a fast-paced maritime, warehouse, or logistics environment. This position plays a critical role in the safe movement, loading, unloading, and storage of cargo throughout the port facility.
Key Responsibilities: Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, move, stack, and transport cargo and materials. Handle containers, pallets, equipment, and other freight in accordance with operational procedures. Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance needs. Maintain accurate records of cargo movement and inventory transactions. Assist with vessel loading and unloading operations as directed. Follow cargo handling procedures and ensure materials are properly secured. Support warehouse, dock, and yard operations as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Adhere to all port, OSHA, and company safety regulations. Work collaboratively with supervisors, crane operators, truck drivers, and other port personnel.
Skills and Abilities: Strong understanding of forklift safety procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Frequent sitting, standing, climbing, bending, and walking. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Comfortable working around heavy equipment, cargo containers, vessels, and industrial machinery.
