About the role
IT Manager / Senior Systems Administrator (Hands-On Player-Coach) $23B Hedge Fund | NYC with travel to CT | 100% Onsite, 5 Days $200–250K base | $325–350K total comp | US Citizens OnlyA long-tenured IT leader is retiring, and this firm needs a hands-on player-coach to step in. It is not a people-manager seat. You'll still do the senior systems work every day while leading and mentoring a small desktop support team. The environment is about 85% Windows and 15% Linux, supporting roughly 170 people. What you'll own Active Directory and Entra ID: group design, service accounts, SPNs, app registrations, Graph API access and credential rotation Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online: mail routing, mail security, DLP, retention, Teams, Share Point and One DriveVMware vSphere and the Windows Server estate, plus physical servers (racking, cabling, diagnostics, part swaps)Windows and Samba file servers: permissions, quotas, capacity and migrations Networking and firewalls: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless, certificates and monitoring Security: endpoint protection, MFA, conditional access, phishing simulations and alert responseIT controls in an audited environment: monthly access reviews, change management, exceptions and DDQ supporte Discovery and legal hold searches with Legal and Compliance Avaya PBX support and the move to an outsourced voice provider Licensing, renewals and vendor management (M365, Adobe, Box, Bloomberg, Verizon and more)Server room power and cooling: UPS, PDUs, HVAC and coordination with building vendors Power Shell and Python automation Leading and mentoring the desktop support team and serving as the top technical escalation point What you bring 7+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience Deep Windows Server, AD, M365 and MFA knowledge Real experience with service accounts, Entra app registrations and credential managementVMware vSphereA secure email gateway such as Proofpoint or Mimecast Endpoint and data-governance tools such as Crowd Strike or Varonis Strong Power Shell Experience running IT controls in a regulated or audited setting Experience leading projects with MSPs and vendors from start to finish
