Role Description:
The Senior Water Resources Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Sarasota, FL. This position is responsible for leading the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and stormwater management solutions for transportation and aviation projects. Daily activities include performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, developing water quality and stormwater treatment strategies, preparing technical reports, and reviewing engineering plans and specifications. The role involves coordinating with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable standards and permits, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff. The Senior Water Resources Engineer also supports proposal development, project budgeting, and schedule management, helping to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in Water Resource Management and Hydrology for transportation and aviation-related projects.
Strong knowledge of Stormwater and Stormwater Management practices, including design of conveyance, detention, and retention systems.
Experience with Water Quality assessment and design of treatment and mitigation measures.
Proficiency in relevant modeling and design software (e.g., stormwater and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools, CAD or civil design platforms).
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree or specialized coursework in water resources is a plus.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
Prior experience leading water resources components of transportation or aviation projects, including coordination with regulatory agencies.
Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work on-site in Sarasota, FL, manage multiple assignments, and mentor junior team members in a collaborative environment.
