About the role

Overview: TheQuality Inspection Supervisor – Receipt Inspection / Metrologywill oversee Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) receipt inspection, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) incoming inspection activities, and full operations of the Metrology / Calibration Laboratory at the Quonset Point facility. This role ensures all incoming CFE and GFE material, components, tooling, and calibrated assets meet strict quality standards, follow Electric Boat procedures, and comply with customer requirements. The Supervisor will lead both metrology and receipt inspection teams, support continuous improvement initiatives, manage personnel performance, and ensure timely and accurate inspection, calibration, documentation, and rejection processing. The Supervisor will interface with cross functional teams at both Groton and Quonset Point to align processes and ensure compliance with all Electric Boat and NAVSEA requirements. Candidates must be able to access submarine construction areas and adjust quickly to changing priorities, emergent needs, and off shift operational requirements. Travel, off-shift support, and overtime should be expected.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee CFE and GFE receipt inspection to ensure all incoming materials meet quality, documentation, and customer requirements Lead daily operations of the Metrology / Calibration Laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate calibration of tools and equipment Supervise both receipt inspection and metrology teams, including workload planning, performance management, and skills development Review inspection results and coordinate rejection processing, documentation, and corrective actions Support continuous improvement initiatives across inspection and metrology workflows to enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance Ensure full adherence to Electric Boat and NAVSEA standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements Collaborate with cross‑functional teams at Groton and Quonset Point to align processes, resolve issues, and maintain consistent quality practices Manage emergent needs, changing priorities, and off‑shift operational requirements to support submarine construction schedules Provide support for travel, overtime, and off‑shift work as required This position isat the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. QualificationsRequired: High School Diploma or GED 3+ years of related experience in engineering, metrology, receipt inspection, or related technical fields 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience Experience with Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) and/or Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) receipt inspection processes Ability to work all shifts, weekends, and extended hours based on business needs Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance Ability to oversee teams across multiple facility locations
Preferred: Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field Prior Military or Navy related experience Experience writing ERs, CNs, and problem statements Experience specifically performing GFE and/or CFE receipt inspection Experience managing or supporting metrology or calibration laboratories Background in process optimization or continuous improvement initiatives Experience working with inspection systems, databases, or quality software SkillsStrong understanding of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, blueprints, manuals, procedures, specifications, and technical reference documents.
