Lead Mobile Engineer
About the role
- Own the development and maintenance of our React Native mobile application, from architecture and implementation through production releases.* Build and ship new features in close collaboration with the founder and backend engineering team.* Manage iOS and Android builds, releases, App Store and Google Play listings, and ongoing app updates.* Maintain our Expo development and update workflows, including build configuration, over-the-air updates, and release management.* Keep dependencies, libraries, and native integrations compatible and up to date.* Diagnose and resolve production issues, improve app performance, and maintain a high-quality user experience.* Use Claude Code and other AI development tools effectively to accelerate implementation, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
- Strong professional experience building and shipping production applications with React Native.* Experience owning mobile applications in production, including releases, debugging, dependency management, and ongoing maintenance.* Familiarity with Expo and its build, update, and deployment workflows.* Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and take full ownership of deliverables.* Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude Code, and the judgment to review, test, and maintain the code they produce.* A practical, resourceful mindset: you enjoy shipping great software without needing a large engineering team around you. The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can take an existing application, understand how it works, and confidently own everything required to keep it evolving and running in production.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
