ABOUT THE ROLE: Our client is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented Public Health Communication Coordinator for a long-term contract position based in Nashville, TN, with a hybrid work arrangement. Reporting to the Director of Communication, you will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating external communication strategies. You will collaborate closely with leadership, program managers, and subject matter experts to build and execute marketing and outreach initiatives, develop impactful materials, and ensure consistent, accurate, and timely messaging across all channels. The ideal candidate is passionate about public health communication, excels in stakeholder engagement, and is committed to equity, accessibility, and compliance. Tennessee residency is required, and the position may require rapid response during public health emergencies.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate external communication strategies, projects, and initiatives. Collaborate with division leadership, program managers, and subject matter experts to coordinate and develop advertising and marketing plans, build communication strategies, and create materials to increase awareness of programs and services, advancing rural health initiatives and projects. Serve as a communication liaison between departments to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely messaging across communication channels. Research, write, edit, and coordinate production of collateral materials, including fact sheets, brochures, social media content, presentations, video scripts, reports, and other print and digital publications supporting various projects and priorities. Assist in planning and promoting public health and public awareness campaigns, community outreach efforts, and stakeholder engagement activities designed to improve awareness and utilization of programs and services at local health departments. Coordinate with internal staff, external partners, contractors, and vendors on the development and production of communication and marketing materials that support our client's initiatives and public health objectives. Provide communication consultation and support to division programs by recommending effective messaging strategies, communication tactics, and outreach approaches tailored to diverse audiences and community partners. Ensure all communication materials and public-facing resources are accessible and compliant with ADA Title II and digital accessibility standards, meeting all applicable federal and state requirements. Perform other communication, public information, and stakeholder engagement duties as assigned. Respond rapidly and effectively during public health emergencies as needed. WHAT YOU BRINGBachelor’s degree from an accredited university in communication, advertising, public relations, or public health. At least 4-6 years of experience in communication, advertising, marketing, or public relations in a corporate, government, or public health setting. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to stay on-task and meet deadlines. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Proficient writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey concepts, ideas, and results clearly and concisely. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member in a large and complex organization. Experience applying ADA Title II and digital accessibility standards to ensure communication materials and public-facing resources are accessible and compliant. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. Experience using ADA compliance software (e.g., NVDA, PAC, WAVE, or similar).Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other graphic design software. Knowledge of video production and website content management is a plus. Attention to detail and a strong compliance orientation. Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset. Cultural competency and a demonstrated commitment to equity. Ability to translate technical requirements into practical guidance for diverse audiences. Must be a Tennessee resident. Ability to respond rapidly during public health emergencies.
