About the role
Publications Specialist Job Summary:
Sparks Group has partnered with a global association based in Linthicum Heights, MD to find a Publications Specialist. This will be a hybrid opportunity requiring you to be in the office two (2) days per week. As a Publications Specialist, you will provide operational support for the Association’s scholarly journal, magazine, website, and all projects supported by the Publications Department. You will work in coordination with the Publications Coordinator and the Director of Publications.
Publications Specialist Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and operational support for Association’s scholarly journal, magazine, and website, and ensure timely publication of the print and electronic only issues. Enhance article and issue-based publications offerings by posting supplemental multi-media data to enhance authors’ data and research. Assist Publications Coordinator in managing and coordinating efforts to ensure the successful operation of webinars, including communicating with and coordinating with external sponsors. Provide copyediting and composition assistance to projects supported by the Publications Department, such as Annual Meeting program, Awards booklet, Daily News, etc. at the direction of the Publication Coordinator. Provide back-up assistance to all the publications in the portfolio to limit backlogs and ensure that publishing deadlines are maintained. Other duties as assigned.
Publications Specialist Requirements:
BS/BA degree required.1-3 years of proofreading and copyediting experience in an editorial department is required. Excellent knowledge of basic grammar and spelling. Excellent reading skills with eye for accuracy. Familiarity with medical terminology, basic science and proofreader marks. Medical communications/writing skills. Excellent computer experience. Average clerical skills.
