About the role
The Preuss School UC San Diego is seeking qualified Physical Education teachers to join our applicant pool for anticipated openings in the 2026/2027 school year. The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu/) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop the best practices in preparation of scholars of diverse and under represented backgrounds to access higher education. Under the supervision of the Principal, The Preuss School Physical Education teachers will provide instruction, encourage student progress, and manage the learning environment. Teach content and skills in subject matter, utilizing courses of study adopted by the California State Curriculum Standards as guidelines. Adapt subject material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to positive teacher/student relations, e.g. on the field, off-site sessions, locker room supervision. Promote an environment which respects and values students' ideas and ways of thinking. Establish, maintain and support standards of personal conduct and discipline in accordance with the current discipline for an orderly, productive learning environment. Use a variety of assessments to monitor and evaluate the learning progress of each student and to make instructional decisions.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
