About SB AutomotiveSB Automotive is seeking an experienced B-Level Automotive Technician to join its family-owned, full-service repair shop in Gaithersburg, MD, offering $30–$38/hour plus production incentives. Owners Chris and David are both ASE Master Certified Technicians with over 15 years of automotive experience. They're actively involved in the shop and available to help with challenging diagnostics and repairs. Key Responsibilities:
Perform general automotive maintenance and mechanical repairs on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. Diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical and vehicle performance concerns using established diagnostic procedures. Complete tire services, wheel alignments, tune-ups, and routine maintenance. Perform repairs independently while maintaining quality workmanship and efficient turnaround times. Use Autel and Matco scan tools to assist with automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting. Complete digital vehicle inspections and document repair findings using Tekmetric. Collaborate with the shop foreman and owners on more advanced diagnostic concerns and complex repairs. Work toward a production target of approximately 40 billed hours per week while maintaining repair quality.
Qualifications:
3–4+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to perform general repairs independently. Solid mechanical repair skills, including routine maintenance, tires, wheel alignments, and tune-ups. Experience performing basic automotive diagnostics and following structured troubleshooting procedures. Ability to manage assigned repairs efficiently and work toward consistent billed-hour production goals. Comfortable using automotive diagnostic scan tools and learning shop management software. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. ASE certifications preferred but not required; experience from either a dealership or independent repair shop is welcome.
