Key Responsibilities: As a CNC Operator/Programmer (Woodworking), you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and precise production of high-quality wood components. This is a fully shop-based role on the production floor where technical design meets hands-on manufacturing. In this role, you will: Perform full CNC machine setups, including tool selection, feeds, and speeds tailored to specific woodworking materials (MDF, hardwood, plywood, laminates, etc.). Create, modify, and optimize precise CNC programs and G-code using AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Mastercam. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to develop efficient machining strategies and generate accurate toolpaths. Produce and grade finished wood products to ensure every piece meets rigid company quality standards. Conduct regular visual and measurement quality checks using calipers, gauges, templates, and other specialized devices to ensure strict adherence to specifications. Proactively troubleshoot and resolve machining or programming issues to minimize production downtime. Maintain and clean machineryand partsduring the production process to prevent debris buildup and ensure machine longevity. Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times to minimize hazards andsupport a productive, efficient environment. Comply with all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a secure workplace for yourself and your teammates.
What You Bring: At Muskoka Lumber, we are looking for a dedicated professional who combines advanced software programming skills with a strong work ethic and a sharp eye for manufacturing quality. Required skills, abilities, and attributes: Proven experience as a CNC Operator/Programmer within a woodworking, industrial milling, or manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM software, specifically AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Mastercam, with experience in nesting and router software considered an asset. Strong technical aptitudewith the ability to read complex blueprints and use various measuring devices accurately. Exceptionalattention to detailand theability tomaintain high standards under production deadlines, with asafety-first mindset. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with design teams to refine models for manufacturability. Dependable and organized work habits, with a focus onpunctuality and efficient task management in a fast-paced setting. Strong positive attitude, willingness to learn new skills, and familiarity with lean manufacturing or process optimization. Strong hand-eye coordination and thephysical ability to handle wood products, machine components, and complete the essential duties of a shop-based position. Ability towork effectively bothindependently and as a collaborative member within a team environment. Familiarity with secondary finishing techniques (sanding, edging, polishing) is an asset.
